IFTA fuel tax 2026
IFTA diesel tax rates by jurisdiction
Quarterly diesel fuel tax rates for all IFTA member jurisdictions, Q2 2026 (April 1 – June 30, 2026). Used to calculate your net tax on every IFTA quarterly return. Always verify the current quarter at iftach.org before filing.
What is IFTA?
The International Fuel Tax Agreement covers qualified commercial motor vehicles (over 26,000 lbs GVWR, or 3+ axles) operating in two or more of the 48 contiguous US states and 10 Canadian provinces that participate. Instead of filing separate fuel tax returns with every jurisdiction you drive through, you file one quarterly return with your base state. Your base state distributes the tax to every state where you operated and settles the net balance as a single payment or refund.
US states
Q2 2026 rates, USD per gallon diesel. Oregon uses a weight-mile tax and has no per-gallon IFTA rate. Kentucky and Virginia carry an additional per-gallon surcharge.
Canadian provinces
Q2 2026 rates shown in USD per gallon, per the official IFTA Tax Rate Matrix. Verify converted rates at iftach.org before filing.
